Looking back


As we look out into space we look back into time...

We see nearby objects as they were recently.

More distant objects we see as they were in the past.

The observable sky is a superposition of spherical shells cut through the past Universe and stacked back over time...
...and the Universe is not static - it's both expanding and evolving.
